This first photo of 166296 to be posted into the FlightAware gallery shows the Sikorsky MH-60S Seahawk of NAS Fallon's "Longhorns" SAR (Search and Rescue) team preparing to lift off from the Hangar 7 ramp.

There were two SAR Nighthawks departing, and I was hoping to get them both lifting off together but this one left about two minutes before the other.
Bagging one of 'em is better than none... a bird in the hand is better than two in a bush... and most of all, thank you, Gary, for sharing this "5" star shot with us!!!

Painted at KNZY
Longhorns, I like it! HOOK'EM!!
These "Knighthawks" were actually painted in-house at KNFL by a very talented maintainer. ðð»
Hi, Kevin. Well, I'm not able to say if Scott is correct about them being painted at KNZY or if you are correct that they were painted at KNFL; however, I do definitely recall photographing one inside NFL's Hangar 7 that was partially painted. Either way, wherever they were painted, the painter did a fantastic job!
Also, thanks for correcting the spelling. Actually, I don't quite know why I IDed it as I did because I usually prefer to identify Sikorsky helicopters by the name the company uses; in this case, Seahawk. But, since I did refer to it as a Nighthawk (Knighthawk), I should have spelled it properly. I will make the correction in the Description section and, to insure accuracy, I'll use the official name directly from the Sikorsky website. Thank you for catching my error. ;-)
