Preflite inspection on a float plane can be easier and faster to perform on a hard surface, and there's no chance to fall into the water. Prefight taking place at 9Y2 which is the East Gull Lake Airport on the south side of Gull Lake in central MN. This is one of the few turf airports that you can use during and after heavy rains. It is constructed on top of sugar sand which drains the water away as fast as it falls. If you like to golf, there's a driving range with instruction at this airport and the airport is surrounded by multiple golf courses. Lots of tie down parking space here as well. Madden's and Cragun Resorts are very close by(across the road) and they provide free shuttle service.
