This should have been implemented long before, only makes sense.

Good plan to enforce, two in the deck at all times, but think of what might happen to a pretty flight attendant if she is sent in to sit beside the depressed pilot. A clunk on her pretty head and she is a goner. The other pilot would not be able to get back in to help her. Her parents would not be pleased.

THIS IS THE RIGHT DECISION FOR MANY REASONS E.G. CO PILOT HAVING A BLACK OUT WHEN PILOT IS IN THE WASH ROOM ETC.

If a pilot becomes incapacitated alone in the cockpit the other pilot can still access the cockpit.

You have to actively deny access from inside the cockpit to prevent access from outside - this requires there to be a conscious person in the cockpit.

So why is this rule coming into place? Mostly because of public reaction to preliminary reports from an airliner crash. It's ridiculous. What happened to coming to a conclusion for the investigation before publishing all this information?

The only reason you need another person in the cockpit at all times is to prevent a rogue pilot from hijacking the airplane or crashing it. That's the real reason except people are too afraid to say it. They'll say generic things like it's for "passenger safety", which is not a lie but isn't the real truth either.

I thought it was so the pilot wouldn't be lonely.
