FAA bans U.S.-Israel flights, citing rocket attack

Übermittelt

The FAA has told U.S. airlines that they are prohibited from flying to or from Israel's Ben Gurion Airport for a period of up to 24 hours. Interestingly enough if you look at Ben Gurion website El Al is operating normally with a few arrival delays, almost all of the Russian and Eastern Europe flights are normal except for the Turks while most of the Western Europe flights are cancelled. There is more going on than the result of a random hit one mile away.

Right. The airline based at Ben Gurion is acting as though everything is just hunky dory.

"Nothing going on here, folks! Pay no attention to the war that we're waging on the destitute people next door! Come on down for some old fashioned religious tourism! This magic sand is amaaaaazing!"

Other airlines might be more hesitant to put their multi-million dollar machines into a warzone these days... Ahem...

Some of those rocket artillery on a downward trajectory might hit an airliner. That range of some of those weapons make almost the entire nation of Israel vulnerable.

The one enlisted airman - John Levitow - who won the Medal of Honor in Vietnam had his AC-47 hit in the wing by a downward trajectory mortar round.
