U.S. Air Force Greenlights F-16 Life-Extension Program
The U.S. Air Force (USAF) has authorized a service life-extension program (SLEP) for its Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block-40/42 and Block-50/52. As per Lockheed Martin, the SLEP would extend the airframe lives of the USAF’s F-16s from 8,000 hours to 12,000 hours, which would keep these F-16s in service through 2048. The company is also studying a follow-on SLEP, though its implementation would be contingent on airframe durability testing. (quwa.org) Mehr...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Be kinda nice if this SLEP contract could be awarded to, oh, say, anybody but LM since, with the help of everybody with money to be made and influence to be sold, this thing goes on. The F35. No SLEP necessary if the F35 actually delivered on "anything" that was promised, like a functional airplane. I see they are goin to deploy some to EU, to hide behind the F15's and 16's.
