Unknown/Generic Undesignated (85164) - Lockheed R6V Constitution 85164 (Ship 2) on display at the old Cleveland Municipal Airport (currently Hopkins) in 1949. The aircraft was on a U.S. Navy recruitment campaign that year and made a stop during the airshow for public tours and viewing. I purchased this photo along with several others highlighting this particular airshow. The photograph was NOT taken by me.

Great historical photo Harrison. I looked up the history of this aircraft, was interesting that only 2 were built and only used by the Navy for a few short years. Thanks.

Looks a bit like a variation on the Globemaster that the Air Force used.

Great find. Looks like a double-decker. Never heard of it.

I assume those engines are Pratt 4360's

Interesting that some of the doors seem to open downwards - hinged at the bottom.
Same engines as those on a B29 I think.

I used to see one at Emilia Earhart/Opa Locka Field in Opa Locka Florida. It was going to be turned into a restaurant, I believe, but it caught fire and was eventually demolished. What a shame that Aviation History is lost like that.

This is local for me. That was the last year for the show at KCLE. The crash of Bill Odom in Jackie Cochran's P-51 helped contribute to the end of racing here.

The grey nose cone reminds me of the Space Shuttles nose cone. Just similarity, I'm sure.
