Douglas DC-3 — - This was taken by my father over North Carolina in 1954 when you did not have fancy motor drive cameras and digital foolery. He put the copilot in the left seat as they skirted a hot thunderstorm. Lots of shots later from a Rolleiflex resulted in this great picture. He didnt know if he had even gotten it before it was developed.

My gut reaction to this is Holy S**t! What a shot!! But then my enthusiasm is tempered by the fact that you cannot trust photographs in this day and age. If this is a real, "just happened to be there at the right moment" shot, then congratulations, it is stunning. If on the other hand I've been duped by a photoshop expert... So five stars for now, well done! Give us some info though, where, when etc...

My dad had the same questions - he entered it in a Rolleiflex contest in 1953 and they had him send the negative as they thought it was India Ink. It was titled "Volts vs Horsepower" and won several awards in the early 1950's. This picture is the real deal. I am posting some of my dad's pictures on here. Nicholas Zelinka was an EAL pilot from 1942 - 1976.

I'm glad my gut reaction was correct! Forgive me for doubting the photo too! Can't wait to see more!

Very cool to see some classic shots out of these old radial airliners! This is for sure a 1 in a million shot! Keep them coming!
