Two people died when a small plane crashed into a multifamily building on Friday evening in Keene, New Hampshire, officials confirmed. The plane crashed at approximately 6:55 p.m. into a building on Lower Main Street, about 3,000 feet from the northern end of the runway at Keene Dilant-Hopkins Airport. FAA officials said the NTSB would investigate, but preliminarily reported the aircraft involved was a single-engine Beechcraft A24R Sierra."There were no injuries at the multifamily building. Unfortunately, those on the plane have perished," City of Keene officials said.Keene Mayor George Hansel said the plane is owned by Monadnock Aviation. The Federal Aviation Administration and New Hampshire Department of Transportation were at the scene on Saturday and the National Transportation Safety Board would also be there Saturday and the lead agency, according to Hansel. "While on scene the NTSB investigator will examine the aircraft, request air traffic communications, radar data, weather reports and try to contact any witnesses. Also, the investigator will request maintenance records of the aircraft, and medical records and flight history of the pilot. NTSB investigators will look at the human, machine, and environment as the outline of the investigation," the NTSB said in a statement.Surveillance video from the neighboring Hope Chapel captured the glow of the plane's lights, the roar of its engine and the sound of the crash. A few moments later, the sound of an explosion can be heard and the light from spreading flames brightens the screen. Residents say the plane hit a storage barn, attached to the main building, which caught fire. They said all the residents got out safely. "It was very scary, I mean, I was sitting in the chair and I heard the big bang and then the house shaking," said Robin Guimond."I just grabbed what I needed to grab to be decent, got outside and looked up. The roof was already in. It already spread all over the roof of the back of the house," said Scott Gauthier. Photos and videos showed heavy flames after the crash. By the time Sky5 arrived overhead, the fire was out but firefighters were still using ladders and lights to inspect the damage. A video showed firefighters extinguishing flames in the damaged building.
