Airlines try to woo high-end passengers with freebies

Übermittelt

Competition for business- and first-class fliers appears to be heating up, as carriers such as American and Alaska offer free pajamas, wireless Internet service and other amenities. Also, the hotel bedbug problem keeps spreading and Spirit Airlines calls its carry-on bag fee a success. (www.latimes.com) Mehr...

Only the first three bedbugs are free. Then the fees kick in.

OMG! James, hilarious! Believe I have first-hand experience regarding the bed-bug problem. It happened in NY (JFK to PHX)....when I got home to PHX - problems began!!! Ugh! I KNOW it happened on the plane (migrated from someone's overhead bag to my bag)....this was a costly problem. Terminix came to the rescue! But it cost me some bucco-bucks to get rid of the bedbugs. This is an epidemic and spreading.

Jane, Wow. That is something I think about. I know those little guys would love my brand of housekeeping.

One last thought or two--Terminix told me to "check myself" often (clothes) before going into the house; i.e., they are finding bedbugs in the movie theaters. This is ridiculous. Because there is such transiency in big cities, etc., now these things are migrating all over the place from hotels to airplanes to your home!!! Scary. They are a nuisance to get rid of (has to be done professionally). Sorry to be paranoid, but after it happened to me, I tell everyone now to empty their suitcases outside, in the garage or anywhere but in the house!!!!! Working for an airline has the wonderful perks of traveling free, but at what expense! Ugh!
