this is horrible. RIP Joe, your work and talent will never be forgotten.
RIP
29 months from conception to rollout is pretty unbelievable.
Thank you Mr. Sutter for the 747. I think she is the most beautiful airliner of all time. Watching this magnificent aircraft climb out...I never get tired of it. And I personally find great comfort in the fact that there are four engines in play in these times of 2 engine aircraft, especially when hours away from any coastline.
Great Aviation Pioneer Will Never be forgotten RIP. You design one of the best aircraft in my book. Long live your spirit just like the 747. Your aircraft is what made me want to become a pilot. Prayers go to you and your family.
Joe Sutter was truly the "Father" of the Boeing 747. Joe and a design team, known as "Sutter's Runaways", produced the first drawings of the 747 on "Cocktail Napkins"! They proposed 3 configuations of the "Queen". Versions being 250, 300 and 350 seats. Joe was a brilliant Engineer...unlike any other and my Father was privileged to be apart of the 747 team. They took the "Queen of the skies" around the world to introduce counties of this magnificent flying machine. Joe was a family friend and he will be missed. Boeing will again design another Aircraft that will leave an awesome impression on the world because Joe Sutter was in the house! Thank you, Joe! You and Dad have alot to talk about! God speed, my friend.
