Over the years Virgin Atlantic has operated 37 Boeing 747s, all but eight having now let the fleet along with all but 6 of the 30 Airbus 340s. The replacements are 17 787-9s, all now delivered, an d 10 Airbus 350-900s, none yet received. They have dropped their order for A380s: they have been one of Boeing's better customers over the years.

Why? Because they are not buying Boeing?
Its a competitive market out there and like any good business you should go for the best deal.
Boeing are currently shooting themselves in the foot of which I am sure they will recover but it'll take time.

Problem is Airbus is subsidized by Eruo governments. Not fair competition.

I doubt that Airbus get any financial support and no more from the European Union than Boeing get from the US Government and when has there been a level playing field in any business?

Do your homework Andrew Bunker - the uS Government filed suit with the WTO over $22,000,000,000 (that’s billion) in illegal subsidies to Airbus

I did and have.
Filling a law suit that has been going on since 2004 adds some doubt to it and until a decision has been they are innocent till proven guilty.

The quote below from The Seattle Times was from 2018 and has still not been settled.
The U.S. filed suit against Airbus at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2004, and since then the gears of that court have ground slowly without any perceivable impact.
