He was a long time launch customer for Bombardier. His Global 6000 was for sale because he had just accepted the Global 7500

The crash of a 767 Lauda Air craft in 1991 was an important event in Mr. Lauda's life. It was his airline, and he was a trained pilot. He went to Boeing and demanded simulator time. He more or less proved that the aircraft had an equipment problem that pilots couldn't overcome. Boeing subsequently added safety features to its 737, 757,767, & 777 aircraft. As someone who had survived a near fatal race car crash, safety was of extreme importance to him. It appears that Boeing didn't learn a dam* thing from this incident. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lauda_Air_Flight_004

Just saw the special on that a week ago he was quite the man. After a crash and fire which almost ended his racing carreer he was back in a car and just missed I think two races. May he still be leading the race in fare weather and clear skies.

A couple a months ago he accepted delivery of a new Global 7500, the first Global 7500 operator in Europe so it would seem his death was unexpected.
