Is this the beginning of the end for the world's biggest passenger plane?
The once-glittering future of the Airbus A380 superjumbo is looking shaky after a third significant engine failure forced an Air France flight to make an emergency landing last weekend. A similar incident occurred in 2010 on a Qantas A380 flight from Singapore to Sydney, and a less serious engine malfunction caused another Qantas A380 Los Angeles-Melbourne flight to turn back in May of this year. Boeing predicted and so did some of the airlines that the A380 would not out beat the queen of the skies the Jumbo jet known as the 747b. 46 years in the making. Wait to see which airline operator who has these A380's will be the first to store them in the desert's Have a guess
They should not have ever built them far to many seats not enough passengers to fill them high on fuel costs and to top it of many problems for it's engines
Try to keep up on things and don't speculate on why as there are many reasons they were built otherwise they would not had. Too bad that trolls like you are on here.
I agree, 3 incidents with 2 different engine makers never killed an aircraft type. And for the record the only major problems the airframe has had is the engines. Thank you for the balanced reply.
I always admire the 747b's since they first flew in 1969 but perhaps if airline operators found a alternative fuel cost saving for them the will go on as the queen of the skies. Where as this over sized A380 won't last Qantas has has to spend millions fixing them with the floors they have in them
