If you think for one second that the open land created by bulldozing LGA would be used for "affordable" housing, I've got not one, not two, but THREE bridges to sell you.
Certainly something to think about. It would free up a lot of airspace and allow JFK to operate at capacity.

Doing so would create another problem with traffic in and out of the airport. Also provides a way for an emergency to be handled if either airport is suddenly closed
