American Airlines put people back on the same plane after a midair electrical fault — and it happened again

Übermittelt

American Airlines passengers on Thursday were put back onto an aircraft which was forced into an emergency landing the previous day after an electrical fault, and the same thing happened again. The passengers had spent an unscheduled night in Phoenix, Arizona, on their way from Los Angeles International Airport to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, because of an electrical fault with a chiller on board the Airbus A321. (www.businessinsider.com) Mehr...

has American airlines maintenance gone "downhill" that much? we all understand there are little and big things that can go wrong, but making sure a mechanical issue is fixed before sending the aircraft back out is not a minor thing..

You are right but that's how they stay in business in the tough aviation economy. It seems "cold" but it's business or lives. It seems to be that way contrary to business denials.

I would hate to be on any airbus that has an electrical fault! Every time you have an emergency, Refused/Aborted Takeoff... That info gets reported to the FAA... This means they will be sending or sent 2 reports to the FAA explaining what happened, what caused it and why... FAA will look into that one deeper being 2 of the same item.

Try this for an electrical fault on a Boeing aircraft: http://avherald.com/h?article=4c1cc3f6&opt=0 Very little has been said in the news. Boeing is the first one to be awfully perplexed and no culprit gremlim has been found yet.

Thanks for this link. Most perplexing. Nothing in the news because it all turned out without disaster.

MX: We just don't understand it. That chiller cleared while testing, so we put it back in.

Why in the world did they not just totally replace it?
Oh, yeah, the old "Ops checks ok." To quote COL Potter of M*A*S*H, "Horse hockey!"

After something like that as a Maintenance Controller, I would not had allowed that A?C to be returned to service... I would have required "A Positive Maintenance Action". After something that severe, a part would have been replaced... I would have had the mechanics working on the plane until they found something!

Simple answer.....MONEY ! Money over people...show the stockholders cash and forget about the traveling public....AA should get a BIG fine but won't cause the Government is shut down due to the idiot Trump...

You are correct. I've flown AA for over 20 years, and this stuff only started after the US Air buy-out...

They also burned up AIR CHINA on the ramp in Taipei it's one of several 737s that burned up. Must be the same supplier at Boeing. Are they using caption un-safety wiring in their aircraft. Its the wiring that brought down SWISS AIR in St. Margrets Bay, Nova Scotia, CANADA.
