It's deals like this that are giving the MAX not only a second chance. But giving Boeing a much needed boost of confidence that they can retain market share with this A/C after the tragedies that led up to the almost 2yr grounding. Good for Alaska for supporting Boeing! Hopefully other customers may follow suit

Good points. . . Boeing stock is way up; looks like they can bounce back and MAX too

Since most of the problems were caused by low time or pilots that were not quaified to fly a complex airplane getting that problem fixed will help out more than anything. Airbus had problems with there computers too.

A broken record attempts to play the only tune he knows.

Thanks for sharing that insight. It seems pilots are more on board with MCAS system this time; no surprises.

I suspect that Alaska's purchase was driven purely by financial reasons. Boeng desperate to get inventory moving and cash flow restored caused them to do "Black Friday" pricing for Alaska and also the rumored Delta purchace.

Good point, although likely it was Air Lease Corp. that provided the Black Friday pricing to Alaska. Possible Boeing did Air Lease a solid too.

So would these be used for Hawaii routes?

Congrats to Alaska Airlines, for not joining the naysayers in shying away from the 737max. With all the scrutiny, this should be the safest airliner in the air.
