Air Force Shelves $3B Worth of Brand New Drones

Übermittelt

Another example of how badly the Pentagon/Air Force are at managing contracts. They swallowed whole the Northrop Grummann claims that the Global Hawk was going to be far more efective than the U-2 in terms of reconnaisance capabilities and cost (no pilots on board needed) and I don´t know what else. And the solution: continue using the U-2 and throw away 3 BiLLION DOLLARS of Global Hawks. Nice gong fellas. (news.yahoo.com) Mehr...

Screwing the military is what defense is all about. Look at our spending compared to the rest of the world. I remember my Grandparents complaining about this during WW II.

I love 99NY's comment on the store credit!

The only good thing here is that the bleeding MAY, and I say MAY, start stopping.

It this was bad enough consider what an authoritative and serious publication such as Aviaton Week and Spae Technology had to say today (http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/story.jsp?channel=dti&id=news/dti/2012/03/01/DT_03_01_2012_p30-427618.xml&headline=Why%20Major%20Acquisition%20Programs%20Fail&next=20): over the past ten years some $ 46 BILLION, REPEAT BILLION in aborted projects were sustained, and that is not all, there are another chunk of billions in projects that did not meet the intended goals in terms of cost and/or performance. Hell first was the greedy Wall St. bankes taht made off with billions in their pockets and millions of unsuspecting home buyers lost it all. I hate to say this but this country is almost rotten to the roots, something has to be done NOW.

This has been happening for WAY longer than the bank/Wall St. fiasco, been decades.

So, we get that money back right? Like returning a power tool that burns out after 3 uses? Maybe store credit?
