Rejected takeoff. Number two engine failed during takeoff. P-W 2043 engine on this 757-300, originally delivered to Northwest Airlines.
I know you don't second guess - but 10 slides deployed @ $30k repack per slide, just for this.
I believe ground operations confirmed a fire in the #2 engine, prompting the crew to take no chances, but evacuating from both sides seemed strange.
Yes, I hear "fire" and everyone out.
