Speculation on Lion Air Crash

Übermittelt

It's interesting to note that initial reports also claimed that aircraft reported no mechanical failures and went as far to suggest that the inexperience of the flight crew might be to blame. Well, it seems out friends over at The Daily Traveler have come out with an article that appears to corroborate initial speculations. (burlas00.blogspot.com) Mehr...

Well, with some of the comments made, I find it hard to believe that this blog was written by an Aircraft Captain. He makes a comment about the time desparity between the 2 and Captain, and questions the wisdom of giving the landing to the inexperienced right seat. That is a stupid statement in itself. 900+ hours in type is no small acheivement in itself, but he of all people should know that it is standard procedure to alternate PF on any given trip. How else does one build time? While last nimute wx was undoubtedly a factor, the biggest thing was that a go round was not initiated quicker. In the accident report there was more thn one instance of the PF not being able to see the runway, and as they were VFR, they should have went around sooner. If it did happen that suddenly, they had no chance anyway.

Agreed and it was my blog in which i agreed with the majority of the other articles points. This WAS labeled speculation but the record on flight safe in Indonesia does historically speak negatively and they're named from American and EU countries for their in inability to reign in the number of accidents. My comments were more about the lack of safety than the disparity in hours between the two pilots. Is still argue that flying a modern key airline into the ground short of the runway is still a much more rare occurrence than most and that some improvement to CRM must be made to insure future occurrences. Sorry for propagating the illegitimate points but I try and stay away from cherry picking from articles. Still, very good points!

In defense of Lion Air, they were close to overcoming the EU and American bans. Needless to say, the old say of "one aw crap wipes out 10 atta boys" came tru here. CRM was definitely out the window and/or the Captain was taking a nap or he would have called either for TOGA and/or a go around a lot quicker. Best I rember from the report, the PF kicked off the AP way out there, then the runway disappeared. I'm just armchairing but I believe I would have called for a go round at that point.
