It's a guidance device used with a GPS to guide the pilot on the correct path, so you don't need a flag man on the ground anymore.
If you watch it you'll see a moving cursor and a center line indicator.
When the two line up the pilot is on the right path for that pass.
Red (Left) & Green (Right) lights show him which side of the center line he's on.
When he was right on path only the center line was on.

Rode with a lot of my friends down here in times past as they flagged. For awhile, it was extra cost for GPS and some continued to flag but now is just included in the price in most cases and nobody has flagged here in several years. Sad part is, nobody really had any idea of what all went into it,experience wise, for a pilot to perform like that but it is also doubtful that any of them would have went up even if a 2nd seat was available.lol

Absolutely great! This would be a wonderful clip to use for student lot recruitment. Unfortunately, some (if not most) would try the flying on their own without the experience of a veteran flyer. Excellent video.

Living in an Ag. area I watch these guys doing this all Spring & Summer, now I get to see it from the best seat in the house.
Great video.

I used to watch these guys out in Texas.I have been around airplanes all my life and to many airshows but I have to say that was one of the most amazing things I ever seen. The skill and nerves it takes to do this don't even apply to a skill ranking for they would be off the scale.A friend of mine used to do this and he once said jokingly that this was when he got religion.I just thought we was joking but now I know Maybe Not.

Great video... thanks for sharing it with us.
While driving on US 65 last summer just North of Lafayette, IN I happened on the wildest thing I have ever seen with regards to crop dusting. Surrounded by 121 windmill (goes on for what seems like forever), I look up and here comes a Grumman Ag Cat weaving through the windmill farm. FRICKING AMAZING!!!

SO MANY WINDMILLS

But I've never seen a plane there (admittedly I only drive through once or twice a year)

Whats that device on the top of the cowl? Never seen anything like that before, it looks to me like it was doing rate of turn, and turn coordinator, anyone know?
