Another reason why you never pack any valuables in your luggage whether it's carry-on or checked....

It may also be said... "Take car in whom you feel you can trust".

"Sleeping Passengers" may not be so ... after hearing this one. People are going to sleep with one eye open. BUt, it does indeed also question the French Police ... why it took them so long ... or why there was not an investigator on her "working flights".

It just goes to show you can’t trust anyone, including your own crew members. Be wary of FBO attendants and airport personnel also. I laid my flight bag down momentarily while checking the weather in a Louisiana FBO and lost all of the cash money I had for fuel stops on my multi leg trip. I did not notice it until enroute to my next destination. Since that experience I wear a money belt when the extra cash cannot fit in my wallet comfortably. No money in my flight bag or map case from now on. You will not miss the money until it is too late if someone around you has sticky fingers.

Al (who's posted above), I'm sure what's in everyone's mind is why you'd carry the large amounts of cash it takes these days to buy fuel? With a credit card, if you got that stolen and fraudulently used, the banks rarely hold you liable for that first $50. Even a debit card would be better, as you have to supply a password in order to use it. Just a suggestion.

Bose X headsets lifted at LGB FBO maintenance center from their front office - marked with name, address, phone - never "turned up".

If I set bags/cases down in a terminal, I'm either straddling it or somehow leaning against it, so I can detect even a light 'tug'. While on board, money/cards are on my person. It's sad we have to be so 'on guard' when travelling, but the alternative can range from an interrupted/ruined vacation to a stolen identity and all that entails.

Air France is not the same company it was in the 70's. It was a first class outfit in those days, operating with a sense of Gaullic pride unsurprassed in the air or on the ground. Now they are the K-Mart of Euro-carriers. Poor service and equipment.

Hello Dan (DanK5) Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately when we fly aircraft outside of the US and into the Caribbean and South America you need cash.
Many FBO refueling operations do not take the credit cards that we may have and many do not take any credit cards at all.
Large sums of cash are necessary to pay for the fuel. This was what happened in my case. Though my incident did not occur where I needed to pay cash it did occur. Beware when you are flying aircraft with large amounts of cash on long trips

Hi, Al (CaribPilot), and thanks so much for the comments. Makes perfect sense. I had no idea that was case in the Carib and South America areas where you fly. So you're just kinda stuck with having to carry that kind of cash. Sorry to hear about your experience in Louisiana.

Note to RobSJC...one would surmise from your comment that you are not a fraud investigator. Initially there would have been approximately 200 suspects (practically everyone on the plane)so the weeding out process can take a little time. Not to mention that when a suspect was finally developed it takes time to obtain bank records and coordinate investigative aspects of a case.
