I would love to hear the story behind this bird.
So, this aircraft is very special. Its the last of 25 that were built for American Airlines, private owners, and the Spanish Military. Its the only surviving Vultee V-1A hull left in existence. You cant even find parts for this plane. This plane was the private aircraft of a millionaire, Rick Henery, and was flown by the famous Henery "Dick" Merrill. This plane broke the record in 1934 for a nonstop round robin from New York's Queen's airport to London, England. During the flight the occupants did not want to sink if the plane was forced to ditch (only one engine) so they stuffed the plane with like 24,000 ping pong balls, which gave the famous flight (that was later made into a fill) the "ping pong flight". The aircraft flew up until 1974 with a private owner in Colorado. Then the aircraft was donated to the Virginia air museum, but it is now on display at Shannon Air Museum.
Great historic aircraft.
Obviously, not the twin turbo-prop Grumman OV-1 Mohawk of the Viet Nam era. Software miss I.D. of A/C type.

Yes sir. I noticed that, but I just left it ð It's a V-1A not an OV-1.
