I believe they retrofit the inside of the fuselage with extra fuel tanks for extended range. Once on the ground in HI they disassemble the modifications for passenger service.

Corporate air is a cargo operator in the Islands..they fly the US mail.. and they do use ferry tanks to get them to the islands!!!

Corporate Air DOES NOT fly passengers. It is an all cargo operator. The article is incorrect.

I believe corporate air does feeder lines for FedEx in the islands. i know for a fact it's all cargo

It could be that the FAA criteria are too restrictive. After all, nothing happened! Only the probability of something happening exceeded some perhaps arbitrarily set limits.

Typical media information. I am sure that some inept uninformed reporter produced this story. Reporters who are not familiar with an airlines operations should not be allowed to report this kind of story but should be fired for stupidity.
