In the real estate business the mantra is location, location, location, and price. In airliner acquisitions it is price, price and price and performance. In the present case of Delta´s the Airbus 320Neo is at a marked losing propositon due to the bad technical problems with the P&W engine unless Airbus gives Delta an insurmountable discount...... so price, price and price
I would think reliability, delivery options,as well as the cost would all be factored into a large purchase of aircraft..the ceo of delta is also accountable to the board of directors and the shareholders when considering this..it is not solely his decision..he also must factor in the capability of the aircraft as far as the route structure of delta..
Gee, I made that kind of comment, and I was voted down. There is more than one factor when it comes to purchasing anything, and it's up to the customer to choose what fits their needs. More important than parochial loyalty.
