Uncrating and Field Assembly of the P-47 Thunderbolt WWII Fighter

My brother in law was a crew chief on an F-16 with the 132nd Iowa ANG. (no longer flying the F-16 out of DSM) I would love to hear his take on the amount of 'impromptu' engineering that took place at Balad and some of the other forward operating areas. 'Make it work' means just that, do what you need to o get it done. The folks at Farmingdale NY did their homework for what was necessary for assembly in the field by a few skilled and several unskilled hands. Hat tip to the greatest generation!
