This guy was one of two 146 fire tankers that were rolling overhead like clockwork a few weeks ago in Sacramento, CA. They were staging out of KMCC alongside a P2V and Tanker 912 while working the King Fire. MAJOR thanks and kudos to them for their hard work!!!
Whoops! The "Neptune' designation does not go with the Bae 146 - but rather to the former US Navy P2V Neptune, as mentioned in Patrick Sawyers' Comment. The P2V-7 version - the last one built by Lockheed Aircraft - is a US Navy antisubmarine aircraft, fitted with a pair of Wright R3350 turbo-compound recip engines, supplemented by a pair of J33 jet engines, resulting in superb maneuvering for making precision air drops! The Bae 146 airliner, fitted with 4 jet engines, should also be ideal in making those air drops!
