Interesting nose art to say the least.
A great photo of an old reliable utility aircraft. I flew on a short 300 years ago in Texas on their inaugural flight with this aircraft from Love Field to Lubbock, TX. They even served Champagne! Must have been in the 1980's. Hard to do when you don't have a galley. Enjoyed the graphics.(livery)of this photo. It's shape is really a give-away. Kind of like the 747.
Now come on! It wasn't 300 years ago. A comma is missing. It was a Short 300.
She's a Garrett TPE331 engined Short Skyvan, retrofitted with five bladed props. The prototype first flew in around 1965, equipped with the pencil thin French Astazou turboprop.
Lipstick on a pig. An ugly but very useful aircraft.
Isn't a 360? The d'or is open ,probable used for parachute dropping...
Oups...door
I recall Delta flying these on KATL-LMGM back in the early 80's - I use to beg the travel office to let me rent a car instead, but they wouldn't hear of it! LOL
Ha ha ha...luv the nose art!!
Why not the four-engined version, the Shorts 440?
