Interesting bit of info ... Extremely high winds were swirling around the airport all day. As early evening began to come on, the winds had shifted to a steady blast out of the south. When the lady Marine pilot of this Hornet was taxiing out, she radioed that she would be "lighting up" when she took off into the strong wind. The acknowledgment of her message included the "request" that she "keep it lit" while coming past the tower. She did!

TYVM for the comment, Matt. I had considered posting a different click of it snapped only a few seconds later where the Bug had climbed high enough to emerge from the shadow and be better illuminated by the last of the sunlight, but by then the pilot had turned off the "flamethrower." Also, the shock diamonds stand out more distinctly against the dark mountains. I appreciate the compliment. (Wave)
