Flashback (Twelve years ago back to 2010) ~~
AWE's N825AW turning from Alpha to line up on Runway 16R.
In 2013, three years after this photo was snapped, US Airways threw a life preserver to American Airlines by proposing a merger. American, which had filed for bankruptcy, agreed to the merger offer and by mutual agreement, and despite the fact that it was US Airways that was saving bankrupt American, the name US Airways was "retired" and the American Airlines name was retained*.
* It was felt that the name American Airlines was a more recognizable and popular name with the US citizenry and worldwide air travelers.

This aircraft is still in revenue service with AAL but, of course, the livery is now the present-day AA paint scheme.
