N5865V —
After 23 YEARS of restorative work, "Semper Fi," a North American B-25J Mitchell bomber (formerly 44-30988, now N5865V) is seen here on display at the Truckee-Tahoe Airport Family Air Fest yesterday (9 July 2016). Beautifully painted in honor of Marine Bombing Squadron 611 ("MB 11"), "Semper Fi" first flew again just two months ago (in May, 2016) after a dedicated restoration project by the Commemorative Air Force's So California Wing in Camarillo, CA. Best viewed by clicking on the "FULL" size option, this snapshot of N5865V / 44-30988, the only PBJ-1J model known to be flying today, is the first picture of it to be presented in FA's gallery.

Of course, I have other clicks of this wonderfully restored WWII warbird, and I will post more of them. However, even though this shot was taken into the shaded side of the Mitchell, I wanted to post this pic first because the name "Semper Fi" is on this side. My other photos were taken with the sun behind me so they will show "Semper Fi" in full light.
