If the OAT was minus 35F at 3PM, it would be nice to know what month this shot was taken in PAFA.
Referring back to the aircraft log, this was 10 Feb 2010. The caption says PAFA (Fairbanks Intl.) but we had just moved the airplane to China Marina (AK28, 2 miles away) for the annual. No room in Erk's hangar so we put on the covers and left it for him.
Okay, thanks Stuart! I was in Anchorage briefly last July. I'll try to get further north up to Fairbanks next time. Who knows when that might be...
Chris, The weather in the winter can be absolutely gorgeous albeit a little on the chilly side. On a normal day, Denali (Mt. Mt. Kinley) is visible from ground level right down the runway at 130 NM!
Okay, thanks Stuart. I had hoped to be able to see Denali from PANC in July last year, but too much cloud cover unfortunately! That was a nice air to air photo taken from the tail position in the B52F by the way.
