Science fiction imagination as depicted in past renditions of war fighting in deep space would seem to be a window on the future. Sooner or later that which can be imagined becomes reality. Death rays, ray guns, etc. have been used ad nauseum in all depictions of space wars, star wars, etc. from the beginning. Here it is now being built and tested on an airborne platform after decades of research by DARPA as a surface to air and anti-satellite defensive weapon. This research is no doubt a prime target for espionage. But wait, Hussein Al Obama "has a pen and a phone" which he can use to cancel program funding or offer it up as part of his "increased flexibility" in this his second term in future strategic arms reduction (aka unilateral disarmament) talks with our adversaries.
Sounds like you're the one suffering from "increased flexibility". It does happen at a certain age.

This article is all wrong this is a falcon 10 used by Notre Dame University to demonstrate communication through laser .... nothing even close to a death ray!
The press release from Lockheed states "The ABC turret system is designed to allow high-energy lasers to engage enemy aircraft and missiles above, below and behind the aircraft."
