BOEING 727-200 — - KSFO Western Airlines Boeing 727 landing at SFO date apprx July 1982 - on 28LR - the old central parking garage at SFO was a great afternoon jet watching area and great for photos before the Terminal was added blocking most of this view. One could not see the whole runway view towards the left in view but you could see all approaching traffic for the 28LR runways and smoky touchdowns as this shows here as this 727 arrives from KSLC Salt Lake City. This was a color slide with my then new Celestron C-90 1000mm lens hand held. Unknown reg.

5 stars for the historical aspect and the story. Same problem everywhere losing viewing spots especially when they were good ones. 1000mm lens - that's pushing the boundaries for handheld anytime, let alone back in those days with no stabilization and getting focus right with the distances involved.

Thanks Gavin - yes, the C-90 had a huge focus ring and was very tight in the L-R focus om fast moving jets - I have plenty of slides out of focus..LOL. Yes many airports have blocked us photogs out. The New SFO viewing deck is very nice, but 15ft glass walls dont make photography easy - though I have seen some pretty decent pictures from the new SkyDeck - one has to know what they are doing to capture fairly decent photos.
