Sikorsky S-70 (N60CU) - Coulson-Unical's Sikorsky Helitanker (N60CU) is caught this morning on the RTS ramp awaiting the arrival of the crew. The beautiful early morning sunrise visible behind it is caused by heavy smoke from the Loyalton Fire which, ironically, is the same wildfire that, when its crew arrives, N60CU will be helping to extinguish.

Absolutely superb photo and as you say, a pity that the beauty of the sunrise is caused by the very thing that requires the use of these aircraft.

Wonderful Catch on The Ramp Gary........

Starting to see smoke out in the Upper Midwest from your fires.

TY, Ken. The photo "rights" to this pic are now jointly owned by me and by Coulson. (I authorized it two days ago.) The smoke you are beginning to get is from the many, many wildfires in California. The state is in flames.

Great shot! The fires are out of control. I remember flying into San Diego, and the pilot came on and told us that the smells we were about to smell were not from the plane, but because we were coming in to the airport with two active large fires to the north and to the south. It was a fairly strong odor. So sad, how many people were displaced and homeless in those fires. Heart breaking...
