Lockheed F-22 Raptor (05-4084)
It doesn't take long for a picture to become eligible to be referred to as a "Historical" photo, and this snap is one example. Taken just five years ago at the 2012 Reno Air Races, this click of a Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor (05-4084) rattling windows and doors ... and eardrums ... as it makes a blistering low-level a/burner pass is now a "Historical" picture ... because of the unit markings on the tail. Five years ago, this Raptor was a 7th FS "Screamin' Demon" at Holloman. Just two years later, in 2014, the 7th FS went inactive and became one of the newest chapters of USAF history. This F-22 and all the others in the 7th went to Florida and today 05-4084 flies out of Tyndall AFB as a 95th FS "Boneheads" Raptor.

The 2017 NCAR / RAR kick off next Wednesday ... just six days from now. Although there are no F-22s on the exhibit or performance schedule for this year's event, there will be plenty to see. The Marines will be giving daily Harrier performances as will The Flying Legends of Texas. An Apache helicopter and A-10s will be here to perform, and the NevANG High Rollers are scheduled to give daily C-130 air drop demos. There will be a B-2 flyby. Also, the Bama Girls (oh, yeah, man!) will be performing a USO-style show on Saturday. And all of this will be occurring between heats of the races. (And a very special note of Thanks to everyone involved in this year's Air Races -- they are giving out over 1,500 free admissions for Saturday attendance to AD and veteran military. Nevada sports star Colon K might make an unannounced appearance. That'd be fantastic!)
