US President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, are currently paying a four-day state visit to Japan. Donald Trump announced on Monday that Japan plans to buy 105 US-made stealth warplanes; this would make it home to the largest F35 fleet of any US ally. Just like he said Finland had signed a deal for Super Hornets that they knew nothing about? Let's wait until Japan announces it before we believe a word of it.

Japan's military is not really equipped to be an expeditionary force. In fact, their constitution puts severe limits on what the Japan Self Defense Forces can do. They're not set up like NATO with mutual defense pacts and the like.
